Eid Festival returns to Westfield London for its fourth year – A1 Retail Magazine

This spring, from Saturday 29th April to Monday 1st May 2023, London Eid Festival will return to Westfield London for its fourth year, as communities come together to celebrate the end of Ramadan.

This year’s London Eid Festival will take place in the Atrium and Westfield Square and is set to attract over 220,000 visitors across the weekend, making it Europe’s biggest Eid al-Fitr Festival.

Open from 10am to 9pm over the weekend, and 12pm to 6pm on the bank holiday Monday, Westfield London’s free, annual festival will welcome Muslim and non-Muslim communities made up of families and friends to enjoy live entertainment, activities, a feast of food stalls and modest fashion concessions inspired by Muslim regions from across the globe.

WHAT’S ON:

The Atrium

Visitors will find a range of concessions including fashion and Eid gift stalls, as well as a Crepe Protect Trainer Cleaning Vehicle to ensure your shoes are sparkling whilst you roam around the festival!

John Lewis

At John Lewis, live activities include cookery demonstrations, a fashion show and beauty master class, as well as an Islamic Art Gallery – a place where all cultural lovers can unite and share traditions.

Westfield Square

Westfield Square is the place for visitors to enjoy the beautiful works of henna artists and experience makeovers from face painters. Here they will also find the Halal Food Festival where there will be a wide variety of cuisines from all over the world, including Pakistan, London, North Africa and the Middle East.

Entertainment will take place, with a stage to host a range of local artists and groups who will perform to the crowds, including celebrity performers such as HARRIS J, plus a range of acts from comedians, traditional singers, Sufi Musicians, Whirling Dervish and live DJs.

For the younger attendees to the festival, there will also be a children’s play area and children’s choir, truly offering something for everyone.

Given its popularity from previous years, the number of people attending is expected to be similar to that of Boxing Day, with more than three million Muslims celebrating Eidin the UK. With the Met Police as community outreach partners, Westfield London will provide an integral and safe space for the community to come together and enjoy a fun and inclusive event that’s suitable for all ages.

Waleed Jahangir, Managing Director at Algebra Consulting commented: “We’ve felt a great sense of belonging at Westfield London for the last few years and are excited to bring back the London Eid Festival for its fourth year. With its ever-growing success, the event offers a plethora of activities and enjoyment for the thousands of people celebrating Eid this year. The event continues to grow and, this year, will be our biggest festival to date and will feature brand new brands and experiences. We’re so grateful to Westfield for once again partnering with us and embracing Eid and our community at the centre.”

Katie Wyle, General Manager at Westfield London commented: “The Muslim community is incredibly important to Westfield London, and we are honoured to welcome the return of the London Eid Festival. The event has grown to become a major highlight in our cultural events calendar, and we look forward to once again welcoming families and individuals of Muslim faith, as well as wider communities, to participate in a marvellous celebration of good will and unity.”
